Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:

When to visit Charleston & When to book:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick a perfectrental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Waltz
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If not, call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
