Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.

You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. The Waltz
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.

Have a great stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
