Tricks and tips to get the perfect Charleston area rental home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Reserve your Charleston area rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the perfect Charleston area vacation home:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Petite Helene! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
