Tips and Tricks to get the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing your Charleston area rental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. This house is a 2 bedroom(s), 2 bathrooms, located in Charleston, SC. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
