How to find the best Charleston vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Charleston:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. This house is a 2 bedroom(s), 2 bathrooms, located in Charleston, SC. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your family.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
