Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Find your best deal:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. Book your Charleston area rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Condo in Wild Dunes! Community Pool! Great View Looking at Ocean! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
