Tips and Tricks to get the best Charleston area rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Charleston. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. The Oyster Suite at Morrison Manor On First Floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
