Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Isle of Palms. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the perfect rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Ocean View, Shared Pool, Boardwalk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
