Strategies to get the best Charleston rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book a perfectvacation home:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Lodge Alley Inn™ - Studio (2F) has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Charleston area destination you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
