Tips to get the perfect Charleston area vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your Charleston area rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Next To Bad Bunnies Coffee has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, contact the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
