How to find the best vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental home:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Carolopolis Award Winning Home!
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Charleston area beach you long to visit, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
