Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home in the Charleston area area:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Breezy Palm (Suite B)
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
