Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your family commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Urban and Charming, Sleeps 12 on King Street! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
