Charleston area rental home tips:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the best rental:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Urban and Charming, Sleeps 12 on King Street! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental.
