Strategies to get the very best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, shift your family's Charleston area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:
- Start by having your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Teal Door Inn-With Fire Pit! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
