Charleston rental booking tips:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Charleston. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3 Bed 3 Bath Historic Home \"4 Blocks from King St\" has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. text the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
