Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Charleston area vacation home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- To find the largest rental for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Charleston area area:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Cozy Furnished James Island home 3- Miles to Folly, 4- Downtown, NO SUBLETS\n\n\n has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain Charleston area destination you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
