How to find the best Charleston area rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the perfect vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group select dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Liberty Place Charleston, a Hilton Club - 2 Bedroom Plus has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
