Finding the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
When to visit Charleston & When to reserve a Charleston rental home:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect rental home in Charleston:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Moonstone Suite: Modern Oasis Near King Street! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
