How to get the best rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- To book the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Moonstone Suite: Modern Oasis Near King Street! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
