Strategies to get the perfect Charleston area vacation property experience:
When to book a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your group decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Villa in Wild Dunes Hot Tub & Community Pool! Great Views! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
