Tips and Tricks for getting the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Villa in Wild Dunes Hot Tub & Community Pool! Great Views! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
