Tips to get the best rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront 3rd Floor Condo w\/ Spectacular Views! Pool & Pier Access! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. message the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
