Charleston rental home booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- To get the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing your prefect Charleston area rental:
- First and foremost, have your group select trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Primrose Home: Tradition with a Modern Twist has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
