How to find the best Charleston area rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, shift your family's Charleston area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Finding the perfect rental in Charleston:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 1 Bedroom Suite w\/ Full Kitchen & Private Balcony has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the host before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
