How to get the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:
- First, have your family choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 1 Bedroom Suite w\/ Full Kitchen & Private Balcony has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you crave, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
