Tips for getting the perfect Charleston vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Liberty Place Charleston, a Hilton Club - 1 Bedroom has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
