Charleston vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Charleston. Reserve your Charleston area rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing and booking the right Charleston area vacation home:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Minutes to Downtown 2br Apartment
90 Night Minimum has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. - Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
