Charleston area vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental:
- To find the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Minutes to Downtown 2br Apartment
90 Night Minimum has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. - Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Charleston area destination you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
