Tips and Tricks to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick yourrental:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Lowcountry Cottage Suite 3 miles from oceanfront and 8 miles to downtown! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
