How to book the best rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Charleston area vacation home:

  • First, have your group agree to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Captain Steve's Creek Retreat has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you crave, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
