Rental property booking tips:

When to visit & When to book:

  • To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the best vacation home in the Charleston area area:

  • Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Kiawah Suite at 360 King has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
