Getting the best Charleston area vacation property experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Just One Block to BEACH! Cute and comfortable beach home with Screened Porch! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's an individual Charleston area beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
