Our top Isle of Palms rental home booking tips:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Just One Block to BEACH! Cute and comfortable beach home with Screened Porch! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area destination you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
