Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Charleston area rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family select dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Historic, newly renovated, 1 block off upper King St, Morris B has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Tips for a great stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
