Charleston area rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
