Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summertime is high season in Charleston. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful Historic Charleston Suite Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
