Finding the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Charleston. To get the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting and booking the rightrental:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Downtown Historic Condo Steps to King Street has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
