Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summer months are high season in Charleston. Book your Charleston area rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Design Dream ? Modern Luxury 4BR
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
