How to book the best rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your Charleston area vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sawyer by AvantStay
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
