Strategies to get the best Charleston area rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- First, have your family select trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Sawyer by AvantStay
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
