Our top Charleston rental home tips:
Finding the best rental home value:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Book your Charleston area vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best rental home in the Charleston area area:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Cozy Beach Cottage Bungalow - 15 minutes to Folly! has 4 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
