How to find the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- To start, have your family select date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. New Construction - Downtown Charleston - Walkable has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
