How to get the best vacation property experience:
Finding the best value:
- The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the perfect rental home in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Close To Folly Beach & Charleston, Charming, Quiet, Comfortable has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
