Tips to get the perfect Isle of Palms rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your Charleston area rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick the right Charleston area rental:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Charming updated 2 Bedroom Beach Cottage. Walk to the Beach! Pet Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
