How to get the best Charleston area rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Charming updated 2 Bedroom Beach Cottage. Walk to the Beach! Pet Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
