Charleston rental home booking tips:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are high season in Charleston. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. State St B by AvantStay
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
