Our top Charleston vacation rental tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Charleston House with Private Pickleball Court! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
