Strategies to get the very best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To get the largest rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right Charleston area vacation home:
- Start by having your group agree to dates and a spending budget.
- Ocean View + Saltwater Pool has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
