Tricks and tips to get the perfect Charleston area vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Summer time is high season in Charleston. To get the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beach Chic Meets Classic Charleston+Bikes~ICW\/Waterway& Restaurants A Few Blocks has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
