How to find the best Charleston vacation property experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beach Chic Meets Classic Charleston+Bikes~ICW\/Waterway& Restaurants A Few Blocks has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
