Strategies to get the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best rental home in Charleston:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 3 Bedroom Upstairs Unit - 3 Blocks to King Street has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
