Tips to get the perfect Charleston area vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. To book the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Boutique Home & Resort Pool ‘Nantucket’ has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
