Tips to get the best Charleston area rental home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the best rental in Charleston:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Boutique Home & Resort Pool ‘Nantucket’ has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
