How to get the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the best rental home in Isle of Palms:
- First and foremost, have your group select date ranges and a budget.
- Walk to Beach, Deck, Fireplace, Outdoor Dining has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Call the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
