How to find the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

How to pick the perfect rental:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 15 Pelican Bay by AvantStay
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
