Charleston vacation rental tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Finding the best vacation home in Charleston:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 2 Bedroom + Office - 3 Blocks to King Street has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
