Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Reserve your Charleston area vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking the bestrental:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Vacation Villa 5 mins to King St- ‘The Queen Palm’ has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
