Tricks and tips to get the very best Charleston area rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Charming Private Suite Close to Beach & Downtown has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
- If there's a particular Charleston area beach you love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
