Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Charleston rental experience:
When to reserve a Charleston area rental & When to go:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the perfectvacation home:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Suite Retreat on Coming Street ~ Walk Everywhere! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you crave, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
