Tricks and tips to get the perfect Charleston area vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:
- Summer is high season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Modern Grand Pavillon Home: Steps to Beach, Pool Access has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
