Charleston area rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book a perfectvacation home:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Downtown Duplex - Coming St - Sleeps 20 has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you simply love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. text the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
